File Clerk / Legal Assistant

Location: Del Mar, CA
Compensation: $22-$28/hour (flexible based on experience; up to $30/hour max)

Position Overview

A growing law firm in Del Mar is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated File Clerk / Legal Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in a legal environment-especially those considering law school or pursuing a degree in Political Science or a related field.

You will work closely with attorneys and legal staff, gaining valuable exposure to civil litigation matters, with family law experience considered a plus. This is a fast-paced, professional environment where initiative, organization, and adaptability are key.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize both physical and electronic legal files
  • Assist attorneys and staff with administrative and clerical tasks
  • Prepare, file, and manage legal documents
  • Support case management and document tracking systems
  • Perform general office responsibilities as needed to support daily operations

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in a legal career (pre-law or planning for law school preferred)
  • Degree in Political Science or related field, or currently pursuing one
  • Prior legal, administrative, or internship experience is a plus (not required)
  • Exposure to civil litigation and/or family law is beneficial
